Gaslamp QuarterSalas O’Brien has a rich background in design for hospitality venues, and our merger with T-Squared Engineers and Axiom Commissioning in San Diego, California, brings us even more hospitality experience. Here are a couple notable projects from our newly added portfolio:

Courtyard Marriott Gaslamp Hotel

Designed to match the needs of the modern business traveler, Marriott’s Courtyard brand features modern, convenient accommodations with stylish accents. The 12-story Courtyard hotel in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter reflects this ethos, and its convenient location makes it the perfect choice for busy travelers.

Courtyard Marriott San DiegoOur San Diego team provided comprehensive commissioning services for this project, with a scope that covered the building’s HVAC equipment, lighting controls, and domestic hot water system. The HVAC commissioning included a central cooling plant with two chillers, a central heating plant with gas-fired boilers, and a water-source heat pump system for the guest rooms and common areas.

Marriott TownePlace Suites

The TownePlace Suites brand empowers travelers to maintain their normal, comfortable lifestyle while away from home. To accomplish this goal, the brand’s hotels feature extra amenities like expansive Container Store closets, fully equipped kitchens, comfortable work spaces, and guest laundry facilities. And to top it off, the hotels are pet friendly.

Our team provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for the TownePlace Suites in Vista, California, just minutes from Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base and the iconic Legoland California. The three-story hotel features over 90 guest rooms and suites, with varying studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom accommodation options, as well as a 2000-square-foot conference center. Our engineers designed split-system heat pumps for use in the hotel’s common spaces and packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC) units for use in the guest suites. The finished design also included a central heating hot water system with multiple boilers and circulation pumps for maximized efficiency.
