Mandarin Oriental Hotel 01Salas O’Brien is an excellent design partner for many reasons—not least of which is our diverse experience across a multitude of markets and industries. From highly technical critical environments to beautiful, extravagant interiors, our seasoned professionals have a proven track record of excellence that spans traditional divides.

Our firm’s broad experience and versatility made us the perfect partner for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group—an international luxury brand that bridges the retail, hospitality, and residential markets.

Mandarin Oriental’s roots go back to 1963 Hong Kong, and the company’s tradition of impeccable service flows from a rich Asian heritage. Their goals are not size-oriented; rather, they aim to provide the very best luxury accommodations in key travel destinations and culture centers around the world—among them Tokyo, Paris, Milan, and New York. Their 30 destinations are spread over 20 countries and territories, and they’re continuing to grow while maintaining an extremely high standard of excellence at their existing properties.

Mandarin03.jpgMany of the group’s destinations include not only high-quality hotel accommodations, but also restaurants, event venue space, spa amenities, and elegant residential accommodations. Mandarin’s Atlanta location combines all of these features, so when they selected an engineering firm to provide the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design and commissioning, they confidently selected Salas O’Brien—a partner with experience in all of the markets represented in their mixed-use structure.

The stunning 42-story, 616,000-square-foot building boasts more than 120 hotel suites and over 40 exclusive residences in addition to multiple restaurants, a 24-hour service kitchen, and a luxury spa with yoga studio, sauna, and 60-foot saline water lap pool. Salas O’Brien’s work met and exceeded the project’s goals, and we have continued to assist Mandarin with improvement and expansions projects as the hotel has enjoyed success and popularity.
