San Jacinto College, recently named one of the top five community colleges in the nation, has served the greater Houston area since 1961. Aligned with the local maritime industry—one of the strongest in the Gulf Coast region—its maritime program saw rapid growth due to a shortage of qualified workers. The new Maritime Technology and Training Center was a direct response to industry demand, and reflects a true partnership between the College and Gulf Coast businesses who are looking for a local site to train skilled technicians. Drawing on its broad experience with higher education technical facilities, Salas O'Brien provided the project with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering.

Covering more than 1.4 million square feet of building space total, San Jose-Evergreen Community College District has buildings that are among the oldest in the California community college system. With our wide variety of higher education campus experience and a focus on sustainability, Salas O’Brien was the perfect choice to provide services for renovations.

Unless you’re part of a small sub-set of the population, you’ve probably never heard of medium-voltage design. Yet this component of electrical distribution plays a significant part in making sure that large buildings and campuses operate smoothly.

Digital Realty is the world's largest full-scale data center provider. Situating a data center in Atlanta was a no-brainer: it’s home to the southeast's largest concentration of telecommunications companies and sits atop most of the fiber connecting New York and Florida. And believe it or not, a 1950s building originally designed to serve as a printing press and bomb shelter was the perfect match. Salas O'Brien embraced the unique challenges this project presented, tailoring designs and finding ways to balance project cost, maintenance, and performance.

I wanted to update each of you after the outpouring of support and concern about Salas O'Brien's Houston team members.

As students head back to school across the country, in many cases they're heading back to facilities that Salas O'Brien played some role in over the summer. We love serving our communities in this way!

For the fifth straight year Salas O'Brien has been named to the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing private companies. Very few companies on the list ever sustain the growth required to be named for five consecutive years.

Landry’s, the conglomerate behind such iconic properties as Rainforest Café, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., and Claim Jumper, took no gamble when building a new addition to their Golden Nugget Casino & Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana. They knew they could rely on Salas O’Brien to deliver the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering needed for resort operations, the spa, and the 14 floors of the Rush Tower.

Salas O'Brien is thrilled to announce that the firm has jumped to #26 on Consulting-Specifying Engineer's 2017 MEP Giants list. The move from #29 in 2016 and #56 in 2015 was fueled by a year-over-year increase in MEP design revenue of almost $9 million.

As Bermuda’s second largest employer and its only hospital, King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) provides state of the art healthcare facilities for the 65,000 residents of the island nation as well as its many annual visitors. Its isolated location in the Atlantic Ocean demands self-sufficiency: KEMH provides a remarkably comprehensive range of services, and its facilities must grow to meet any increase in demand.
